I had a lot of fun working on Project 4. I was able to work with other classmates who had experienced volunteering with the same organization as I did. The Tallahassee Museum is a unique volunteer opportunity and sharing our different experiences wile volunteering was very interesting. I think a media campaign is a creative way for students to spread the idea of community service. After finishing my own media campaign, seeing my fellow classmates was really neat.

On December 2nd, we were required to have an out of class work day with our group for Project 4. We saved a computer in the Digital Studio from 5:00 to 6:00 pm so we could do so. When we all arrived we started collaborating. Katherine Bailey had created our website the previous week. She had set up tabs where we could download our work for viewing. We started by creating the pages and designing them in a unique way to make it attractive to our audience. We added fun pictures and creative designs to the page.

I asked for help when it came to the downloading on my media campaign images. Luckily, one of the Digital Studio helpers was there to walk me through the steps. She explained to me how to transfer InDesign into pdf and other helpful computer tricks. I was able to help the rest of my group out after she explained it to me.

I believe we all worked really well together. Everyone contributed a piece to the project and no one really slacked or brought the team down. I enjoy group projects because I believe it gives us a chance to learn and grow from others. I believe it is easier to ask another student for help then having to talk to the intimidating teacher, although Ms. Lang isn’t intimidating she is awesome.  Working as a group makes you take responsibility for your own actions in a timely matter because you do not want to disappoint your fellow group members.

This project helped me to understand more about technology as well as media campaigns. It is difficult to come up with an advertisement to promote an organization and spread awareness. It requires lots of creativity and knowledge of technology. I hope the work we did, in a real life scenario, could actually help spread awareness for our organization and create more funding towards the Tallahassee Museum.

I didn't expect to enjoy myself as much as I did in this class. I expected that we would just volunteer and do work and wrtie essays. I never imagined how involved I would get with my organization and how much I would love volunteering and learning about my classmates experience's with their organization. My reading and writing has improved greatly over the course of this class. I am able to write directed towards a specific audience. Volunteering has really made me appreciate what I have and I learned many useful things that I will take with me for life. In this class, I didn't just learn how to write, I learned about my community, and since I am new to Tallahassee, I was excited to learn. The most important thing I learned in this class is how to write towards a specific audience and I know that will be a really useful tool in the coming years. I plan on continuing to volunteer and make this world a better place for our children.
